CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT AGRICULTURE

What started in 1985 as a small family-run greenhouse has grown into one of Canada’s leading full-service plant suppliers.

With facilities in British Columbia and Alberta, we produce a wide range of potted plants, including ornamentals, flowering annuals, perennials, tropical foliage, vegetable starters and cut flowers year-round for retail chains and independent growers across Western Canada and Northwestern USA.

Water conservation through recapture
We capture and recirculate excess water throughout our greenhouses, reducing overall water consumption by up to 80% compared to non-recycled systems.

Maximizing solar power with layered growing
Our overhead basket system—integrated with Argus climate control technology—enables precise, consistent watering, even at scale. This system supports the production of more than 1.75 million hanging baskets annually, while optimizing space and sunlight usage.

Reducing plastic waste with plant pot recycling
In partnership with local garden centres, customers can return used plastic flower pots and trays for collection. These items are brought back to our facilities for cleaning and either reused in our operations or sent to our recycling partners to be remanufactured into new pots.

Minimizing chemical use through Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
Our IPM approach leverages beneficial insects—natural predators of common pests—to maintain plant health. This biological control strategy significantly reduces the need for chemical pesticides.

Energy efficiency in every detail
Rainbow was an early adopter of high-efficiency LED lighting, replacing traditional high-pressure sodium systems for growing. Additional innovations, such as high-speed roll-up doors, help retain heat in the greenhouse and further reduce and optimize overall energy use.
